Blessing of the renovated Calvary
On September 13, bishop András Veres blessed in Gencsapáti the refurbished stations of the Holy Well.
Several hundreds of devouted pilgrims came on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross to the Holy Well of Gencsapáti. The stations of the Calvary were renovated in the recent months thanks to a successful tender and cooperation. The damp parts of the walls were remade and some stations were recoloured.
Bishop Dr. András Veres blessed the stages. In his speech he highlighted the importance that Christians should look up to the cross of Christ, from which they gain new energy for the difficult situations of everyday life.
According to the tradition, Mihály Török and his wife Katalin László built the chapel at the spring found there in gratitude for their blind child being washed and healed by this water.
